This year’s Gerken Companies professional development summit, GerCon 2026, took place on February 17 and 18 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg. Once again, the event brought together a diverse group of professionals eager to learn, network, and grow within the industry.

The summit followed a familiar format from last year, with sessions held primarily in the hotel’s Main Ballroom and four smaller breakout rooms for more specialized discussions. Over two days, attendees had the opportunity to participate in 55 sessions covering 24 distinct topics.

One of the most exciting features of GerCon 2026 was the introduction of new topics that reflect the evolving landscape of our business. This year’s sessions explored essential areas such as mental health, financial wellness, customer service, intelligent compaction technology, and mill training. Those topics are not only timely but also essential for fostering a well-rounded, informed workforce.

In addition to the engaging content, the event showcased new booths from Front Door Marketing and the PPE Store, providing attendees with valuable resources and tools that can directly impact their professional practices.

Networking was a fundamental part of GerCon, facilitated by daily joint lunch sessions. The gatherings allowed attendees to connect, share experiences, and engage with vendors. It was a vibrant atmosphere, filled with conversations and collaborations, that enhanced the overall experience for everyone involved.

Moreover, the presence of internal HR and IT personnel benefited attendees who had questions or needed guidance on company resources. Their availability demonstrated Gerken’s commitment to supporting its employees’ development and addressing any concerns.
