At its annual meeting on November 15, 2024, the Ohio Aggregates & Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA) presented The Gerken Companies with four Excellence in Safety Awards.

The Custar Stone Co., Genoa Limestone, LLC, and Gerken Materials, Inc.’s West Millgrove Quarry received Platinum Excellence in Safety Awards. The Bluffton Stone Company received a Gold Excellence in Safety Award.

As an OAIMA member, Gerken pledges to treat employees as our most valuable resources and maintain a work environment that strives to eliminate injury incidents, resulting in zero fatalities.

Safety is one of Gerken’s core values. We continually improve our safety programs to meet and exceed industry standards. In addition to OAIMA, the Michigan Aggregates Association, the United States Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration, and the Black Swamp Safety Council have recognized Gerken for our efforts to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
