Engineer for a Day at UT

Introducing high school students to the world of engineering.

Engineer for a Day 2024

On February 20, Team Gerken members participated in the University of Toledo’s Engineer for a Day Program. The annual event gives area high schoolers a glimpse into various engineering disciplines from educational and professional perspectives. Nearly 180 students experience presentations, lab demonstrations, and job shadowing.

Gerken’s Jason Baden, Stan Radabaugh, Andrew Marihugh, Mandy Gerken, Joe Knepley, Kyle Borstelman, Rob Jankowski, and Andrew Schwab presented to the students.

In one exercise, Kyle, Rob, and Andrew gave students an estimating problem to solve. Working in teams, each group created a business name and compiled competitive bids.

Engineer for a Day is part of Engineers Week, a partnership between Toledo Society of Professional Engineers, University of Toledo, and DiscoverE. Engineers Week aims to honor and bring attention to the engineering profession throughout northwest Ohio.
