Gerken’s Ready Mix division participated in JA Inspire on May 8 at the Glass City Center in downtown Toledo.

JA Inspire allows 8th-12th grade students to learn about Northwest Ohio industries in time to begin planning for their careers after high school. Local companies were on hand to provide experiential exhibits and participate in building Ohio’s future workforce.

Gerken helped form a “Concrete Cluster” with representatives from Rhodes College, Premiere Concrete Admixtures, and All Ohio Ready Mix. In addition to exploring a Kuhlman Corporation mixer truck, students could toss a ball through the mixer’s concrete chute for a chance to win a gift card.

More than 3,000 students from nearly 35 schools attended the event.
