The Gerken Companies is proud to partner with Black Swamp Football to present the Gerken ROCK-SOLID PERFORMANCE of the Week Award to an area high school football team whose latest game-day efforts showed extraordinary effort.
Week 9

This past week, Genoa showcased its dominance on the field with an impressive 42-27 victory against Eastwood. By outpacing the Eagles, the Comets claimed sole possession of first place in the Northern Buckeye Conference with a record of 7-1 and an unbeaten conference record of 5-0.
The game highlighted Genoa’s potent offensive capabilities, featuring a powerful ground game that totaled 192 yards on 48 carries. Leading the charge was Alex Materni, who carried the ball 24 times for a remarkable 110 yards and contributed a touchdown to the scoreboard. Quarterback Myles Mollenhauer also made his mark with two rushing touchdowns of his own, alongside a balanced passing performance where he completed eleven of 15 attempts for 111 yards. Logan Routson rounded out the scoring with a rushing touchdown, further solidifying Genoa’s offensive onslaught.
The victory not only boosted Genoa’s standing in the conference but also earned them Black Swamp Football’s ROCK-SOLID PERFORMANCE of the Week, presented by Gerken. The Comets have proven to be a formidable team this season, and their ability to execute well-rounded offensive plays is a testament to their preparation and teamwork.
