Gerken attended the Ohio Operating Engineers Apprenticeship and Training “SheDig” event held in Cygnet, Ohio, on September 13 and 14.

The SheDig initiative allows young women to experience a day in the life of an Operating Engineer. Participants enjoyed opportunities to run several pieces of equipment, meet apprenticeship instructors, and discuss possible career paths with Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18 members. The program is ideal for high school juniors, seniors, and any women interested in a construction career.
